About the Club
SIRC (Stavanger International Rotary Club) belongs to Rotary INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT 2250 and there are 6 Rotary Clubs in Stavanger City. SIRC has been serving the Rogaland community since 1986. We have the same slogan as Rotary International; SERVICE ABOVE SELF and concentrate on Five Areas of Service to our community:
- Club Service
- Community Service
- Vocational Service
- International Service
- Youth Service
Our largest International Service Project to date was PolioPlus® the global eradication of polio. Twice we have come within a just a few cases of defeating polio, but our goal is to stop this crippling disease forever. We sponsor ambassadors for Education, Cultural Exchange and Peace between clubs and nations. This club is known to be devoted and committed, giving ourselves constantly new challenges. Thanks to our loyal supporters, we are able to make a difference! You are always welcome to join us at a regular meeting as a members guest or sign up for one of our great events!
WHO are we?
We are one of Stavangers Rotary Clubs and belong to the Rotary District 2250. SIRC was founded as the only english speaking Rotary Club in Norway on February 11th 1986. We are dedicated to RI's goals and try to give YOU the opportunity to get known to RI and its projects.
WHAT makes us special?
Our members are from a variety of nations, including Norwegians, united under the RI umbrella and our club is the only english speaking Rotary Club in Stavanger.
WHAT do we do?
During our weekly Club meetings we promote friendship and common interests, and plan a wide range of projects over the year to support RI work all over the world.
WHY do we do this?
Because we think it's worth the effort. Overall, the highest goal of RI is to eradicate POLIO. We are a long way down this path to achieve this goal, but, there's still a lot of work to be done and so we are giving our best to contribute to the common effort of RI.
Rotary International: No other organization of this enormous size changes it’s leadership on all levels yearly, while continuing to support all our projects and our Rotary Foundation. Whilst supporting Rotary projects or take part in a Rotary fundraiser you are helping on a worldwide level. Join us in our new thrust to a “greener” earth, providing potable water for third world countries, ending illiteracy and innumeracy, and alleviating world hunger.
Our Home District is Rotary International District # 2250. The district is publishing a monthly newsletter named "Rotary Vest".
